摘要 / Abstract

This presentation examines how sustainability transitions unfold through distinct political and institutional configurations in Brazil and China’s pulp commodity chains. By comparing a corporate-led governance model in Brazil with a state-led ecological civilisation framework in China, it reveals how both forms of “green transformation” reproduce territorial asymmetries and new modes of dependency. Drawing on political ecology and critical transition studies, the analysis highlights how sustainability is not only an environmental or technological process, but also a deeply political and spatial one structured by competing state, corporate, and community rationalities. Ultimately, it argues that sustainability transitions require reconfiguring the institutional architectures that mediate power, participation, and territorial control.
