Speaker: Prof. Susan L. Ostermann
Susan L. Ostermann is Associate Professor of Global Affairs and Political Science at the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame. Professor Ostermann’s research focuses mainly on regulatory compliance in South Asia. Her Oxford University Press book, Capacity Beyond Coercion, explores and explains variation in regulatory compliance along the India-Nepal border.
Professor Ostermann will delve into the rise of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, which just won Nepal’s 2026 elections with a clear majority, and share insights from her recent fieldwork in Nepal circa the elections.
