The presentation examines how China’s development model offers valuable insights for countries of the Global South seeking to strengthen state capacity, promote effective public policies, and pursue sustainable development. The research focuses on the mechanisms through which China has combined long-term planning, controlled decentralization, and iterative institutional learning to generate rapid and sustained economic and social transformation. The central argument is that the success of this model stems not from ideal and specific institutional conditions, but from the strategic use of existing structures, gradual institutional strengthening, and systematic public policy experimentation at the subnational level.
