Welcome to this seminar on China's role in Africa and Latin America.

China’s engagement in Africa and Latin America has increased significantly over the last two decades.

The pandemic and the war in Ukraine has caused significant new challenges for the two regions, including inflation and luring debt-crises. At the same time, China’s presence is changing.

In this seminar, we ask what implications this will have for Latin America and Africa. Will China – as it did after the 2008 financial crisis - ‘come to the rescue’ or will we see a different China this time?
