Philip Bockholt is Junior Professor of the History of the Turco-Persian World at the University of Muinster and leads the Emmy Noether Junior Research Group TRANSLAPT, which focuses on Arabic-Persian-Turkishtranslation processes in the Eastern Mediterranean. He earned a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from FreieUniversitat Berlin (2018), receiving several national and international accolades for his dissertation onSafavid historiography. He has benefited from research fellowships in Delhi, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Madrid, Paris, Saint Petersburg, Shanghai, and Tokyo. His recent monograph publications include Weltgeschichtsschreibung zwischen Schia und Sunna (Brill, 2021), Ein Bestseller der islamischen Vormoderne (VOAW, 2022), and Turkische Ubersetzungen aus dem Arabischen und Persischen (De Gruyter, 2026), as well as several co-edited volumes. He is the founding series editor of Empires in Translation (De Gruyter).
