Amid unprecedented global shifts not seen in a century and profound adjustments in the international political and economic landscape, countries today confront a multitude of challenges and opportunities. Against this backdrop, the scientific assessment of state development drivers and the exploration of sustainable growth trajectories have become focal points of international concern. State development drivers not only bear on a country’s continuity and prosperity, but also provide an essential reference for discerning global trends.

On 27 April 2025, the sub-forum “Global Transformation and State Development Drivers,” hosted by the Fudan Development Institute, was successfully held in Conference Room 106 of the Think Tank Building at Fudan University as part of the Shanghai Forum 2025. At this event, the project team for State Development Drivers presented the research findings of the Global State Development Drivers Index (2024) report and officially launched the “Global State Development Drivers Index Map” website, offering a novel perspective and authoritative data support for understanding the development trajectories of various countries. Twelve keynote speakers from eight nations delivered thematic presentations, while over twenty experts and scholars from more than ten countries engaged in vigorous discussions on the current drivers of national development. The session attracted an audience of more than fifty participants.
