Abstract
There is growing international recognition that food production will be severely affected by the global ecological crisis. This seminar aims to discuss the nexus between food security and environmental sustainability through an analysis of Chinese agricultural investments in Argentina. Based on a food systems governance approach from International Political Economy, the different modalities of Chinese investment between 2010 and 2024 will be presented. These include investments in food production, agricultural services and infrastructure, the soybean chain and Belt and Road projects. The seminar will also address the challenges and opportunities for cooperation between Argentina and China to explore sustainable forms of food system governance.
