Abstract
The lecture will explore how congruence between individual beliefs and broad social structures affects subjective well-being. Why are people happier if their personal culture aligns with their public culture? How important are objective conditions to happiness? How to understand the subtle effects of cultural differences on happiness? Through a new perspective combining cultural sociology and happiness research, the research will reveal the deep impact of the dynamic interaction between cultural conformity and social structure.
