Lei Zhang is a dedicated researcher focusing on vulnerability discovery, vulnerability mitigation, and cybersecurity governance. He has been leading several key research projects, including a subproject of the National Key R&D Program of China, the Youth Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Decision-Consulting Research Project of Shanghai Municipal Government, making outstanding contributions to both cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies and policy-oriented research. Academically, he has published more than ten high-quality papers in top-tier international venues, including IEEE S&P, ACM CCS, USENIX Security, and ACM FSE. His research achievements have been widely recognized with prestigious awards: the Distinguished Paper Award at USENIX Security 2022 (the first from China), the Distinguished Paper Award at ACM FSE 2024, the First Prize of Shanghai CCF Science and Technology Award, the ACM SIGSAC China Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award, and the ACM China Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Nomination Award.Committed to interdisciplinary research integrating technical and policy studies, he has long been engaged in policy consulting for national cyberspace security. Several research reports have received important instructions from national leaders, providing strong theoretical support and decision-making references for critical information infrastructure protection and cybersecurity governance practice.
