The BRICS Information Sharing and Exchange Platform, a new version of which has been launched, was established and is operated by the Fudan University BRICS Research Center. Initiated in 2013 following a decision made at the BRICS Trade Ministers' Contact Group meeting, the Platform is developed with the support of the Ministry of Commerce of China and the BRICS Business Council. It serves as an international, non-profit, and authoritative platform for the dissemination of information and exchange among the BRICS countries, aimed at fostering economic and trade ties and cooperation. During the Durban Summit in 2013, BRICS leaders welcomed the development of this information sharing and exchange platform by Fudan University, recognizing it as the first of eight key cooperation initiatives to be advanced by BRICS nations in 2013-2014. The Platform's official domain is www.brics-info.org, and its working language is English. In 2015, the declaration of the BRICS Leaders' Summit in Brazil formally acknowledged the Platform as a comprehensive information platform for BRICS nations. As of February 2026, the Platform records 200,000 visits per month, establishing itself as one of the most distinctive information platforms in the field. To date, over a hundred prominent large enterprises, both domestic and international, including China COSCO Shipping, have contributed information and data related to trade and investment facilitation on the Platform.
The BRICS Research Center has recently revamped and upgraded the BRICS Information Sharing and Exchange Platform, which it has managed for several years. The Center aims to transform the information platform into a BRICS Information Portal, constructing a new type of online platform that effectively covers foundational information about all BRICS members, signature BRICS events, and research data resources related to the bloc. This platform not only collects and organizes authoritative information and data on the BRICS nations but also extensively incorporates third-party data and research findings covering various aspects such as economic development, social change, and cultural exchange. By introducing advanced data processing technologies and intelligent analytical algorithms, the platform can provide users with more accurate and comprehensive data support, thereby elevating information sharing and exchange among BRICS countries to new heights. The platform will continue to offer valuable decision-making references and research foundations for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and scholars, contributing to the sustainable development of the BRICS nations and the world at large.
