Zhaoguang Ge, born in Fujian Province, was born in Shanghai in 1950. He graduated from Peking University as a graduate student in 1984 and was once a professor of Tsinghua University. He is currently the president of the Institute of literature and history, Fudan University, and a professor of history.

The research area is the history of Chinese religion, thought and culture.
