Associate Professor


Peiyuan XU is an Associate Professor at the Fudan Development Institute, Fudan University. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Tsinghua University and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Oxford, UK. He currently also serves as a Visiting Researcher at El Colegio de México, A.C. His main research areas include area studies (Mexico and Latin America), international investment and trade, industrial policy, and development finance and aid. He has extensive fieldwork experience in Mexico and Chile and is proficient in both Spanish and English.

Previously, he was the Executive Director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the Institute for International and Area Studies, Tsinghua University. He has also been a visiting scholar at leading institutions in Latin American studies, including the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the University of Chile, the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, and the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
