Prof. Wu Xinbo Brings an Expert Delegation of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the U.S.

Recently, commissioned by the Department of North American and Oceania Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Prof. Wu Xinbo, Deputy Director of the Center for American Studies, and experts and scholars organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid an 8-day visit to the United States for policy research. Prof. Xin Qiang and Prof. Song Guoyou from the Center also participated in the visit. The visit aimed to acquire information on American domestic political and economic situation after the presidential election, and also to predict the future of American China policy. Moreover, how the Sino-US relations would develop in the near future was also discussed between the Chinese delegation and American hosts.

The delegation first arrived in Los Angeles, and then held a press conference on Diaoyu Islands dispute. The press conference was arranged by the Consulate General of China in LA, and participated by Chinese-language media in America. Professor Wu briefed the ins and outs of Diaoyu Islands dispute between China and Japan, and explained the stand of Chinese government. In addition, he answered the questions from Sing Tao Daily, International Daily News, World Journal, ifengus TV, etc.

Subsequently, the delegation went to the University of California at San Diego for a one-day symposium which mainly discussed the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and Sino-American relations after the U.S. presidential election as well.
