Annual Meeting of Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Institute (2012)

December 15-16, 2012, SH-HK Development Institute (CUHK-Fudan), together with the Socialism Market Economy Research Center as well as the Sustainable Development Strategy Laboratory of Fudan opened the annual seminar with the theme ”SH-HK Development and the Sustainable Development of China”. By taking into consideration of the weekness of Western Economy and the slowdown of Chinese economic growth, the participating experts launched heated discussion concerning the competitive development between SH and HK, the regional development of Yangtze River delta and Zhu River Delta, as well as How to achieve a sustainable development by enhancing the quality of the economic development of China.

 

The two-day seminar was mainly divided into three sessions. The keynote speeches of the first session were respectively delivered by Pro. Liu Zhibiao (Dean of the Academy of Social Science of Jiang Su Province), Pro. Li Hongbin (School of Economics and Management of Tsing Huang), Pro. Zhang Jun (Vice Dean of Fudan Development Institute / Director of Chinese Socialism Market Economy Research Center) and Pro. Shen Jianfa (CUHK-Geography and Resource Management Department). The main part of the second session was a round table discussion of over 10 scholars about the mutual development of SH-HK and the cooperative development within the Yangtze River Delta and Zhu River Delta. The third session covered the topics of Sustainable Development of China, Urban Economy and Regional Economy. 

 

The topic of Pro. Liu Zhibiao’s speech is “The Strategy Escalation of the Globalization of Regional Economy of Yangtze River Delta and Zhu River Delta”. The topic selected by Pro. Li Hongbin is “The Population Challenge and The Economic Development”. Pro. Zhang Jun delivered a speech concerning “The new session of Chinese Economic Development and the Position Fixation of Shanghai”. The main theme of Pro. Shen Jianfa’s speech is “The urban development of HK and its Population Problem”. After that, Pro. Qian Shizheng, Pro. Zhou Weilin, Pro. Zhang Xueliang and Pro. Chen Shiyi all delivered relative speeches about SH-HK development from different angles. The whole seminar proceeded in an heated and harmonious atmosphere.
