The Rt Hon. Ed Davey MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change for the United Kingdom visited Fudan University

 

     On September 25th 2013, the Rt Hon. Ed Davey MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change for the United Kingdom took an official visit to Fudan University. After the meeting with President YANG Yuliang, the Secretary of State presented at the kick-off ceremony of Fudan Tyndall Center to unveil its plaque. Later, he also gave a speech on climate and environmental change. He said that it was his pleasure to witness the partnership between Fudan and Tyndall, and the partnership is sure to push forward the understanding of the latest climate science, thus to improve the cooperation between the two countries.

 

 

    In the speech, the Secretary of State analyzed the potential influence of climate change on earth and human beings from the latest scientific findings of climate and environmental change. In addition, he also introduced some policies in Britain to tackle climate and environmental change. He spoke highly of China's active reaction to climate change and emphasized on the significance of cooperation between the two countries.

 

 

   The Secretary of State was interviewed by the media after the speech. Later, Secretary of State, along with his delegation left for Beijing by train to continue their official visit to China.
