FDDI·Visiting Scholar Program
ApplicationGuidelines
FDDI (FudanDevelopment Institute)welcomes qualified scholars from outside of China toapply for its Visiting Scholar Program. This program allows scholars tointeract with the scholars, staff, and students at Fudan University while conductresearches for 1-2 weeks independently during his or her stay in FDDI.
FDDI welcomes academicresearchers and university faculty members in Social Sciences whose researchinterests meet with the requirement below to apply for this program.
SELECTIONCRITERION
· Applicantsmust be under 50 years of age.
· Researchis among one of the following fields: political science, sociology, economics,environment, finance, and other fields of social sciences. Research on hotspotissues like “the Belt and Road” initiative will be especially welcomed.
· Preferencewill be given to applicants whose research is policy-oriented.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· VisitingScholars are responsible for conducting their own researches independently.
· VisitingScholars are required to work office hours at the FDDI office for at least oneand a half day per week. During this period, Visiting Scholars will meet withscholars, staff or students who have made an appointment with them.
· VisitingScholars are encouraged to present their research or otherwise take part inseminars or conferences organized by FDDI.
· VisitingScholars are required to provide at least 1 article on China studies for FDDIpublications. They could either submit works of their own or recommend qualifiedarticles from others.
· AllVisiting Scholars are required to submit a final report on the outcome of theirresearch. Reports in the form of policy proposals will be preferred.
PRIVILEGES
· FDDI willmake arrangements of housing for the Visiting Scholars during their stay and willprovide certain amount of subsidies for the Visiting Scholars.
· VisitingScholars enjoy full access to libraries and electronic resources at FudanUniversity.
· FDDI provideseach Visiting Scholar with office space which is accessible Monday – Friday, 8:30– 17:00 p.m. (except for University holidays).
· VisitingScholars are welcomed to attend lectures and all announced public scholarlyevents on campus, including those organized by FDDI.
