Seed Fund · FLAUC Fellow Program

1、OVERVIEW

FDDI （Fudan Development Institute）welcomes qualified scholars from Latin American universities or institutes to apply for its “Seed fund · FLAUC[2] Fellow Program”. This program allows scholars whose research interests are related to Latin American topics to interact with Fudan faculty while conducting their research at the FDDI.

The program provides at most 10 vacancies / year for Latin American research professors, who have nationality of outside Mainland China. Each professor would recommend a doctoral student who conducts researches on Latin America to join the research team at Fudan University.

2、ELIGIBILITY

Applicants as Latin American research professor should be or under 60 years of age and have nationality of outside Mainland China, and should hold a faculty position at a recognized university or be a regular member at an established research institute in Latin America.

Applicants as Latin American research doctoral student should be doctor of recognized university or established research institute, and should conduct research on China or Latin America related topics.

Each applicant should apply for the program after confirming a joint research collaborator who holds a full faculty position at Fudan University (Chinese nationality is not required).

Preference will be given to applicants from FLAUC member universities.

3、SUBJECT COVERAGE

The research fields include but are not limited to:

Politics, International relations, Communication and Culture Studies, International Studies, Sociology, Economics, Education, Chinese language, history, philosophy, Public health, Medical science, Environmental sciences, Big data…

4、APPLYING PROCESS

FLAUC Fellow Program receives application twice a year, and will process the application by February and May.

The applicant should send the following required documents (in English or Chinese) which should be packed and named “FLAUC Fellow Program + applicant’s name” to fdifudan@fudan.edu.cn,;

Curriculum Vitae (including the academic and professional experiences, previous research list…);

High resolution picture of the applicant (JPEG or PNG);

Research proposal (minimum of 1500 character in Chinese, or 2 pages in English);

 5、RESPONSIBILITY

Latin American research professors should be available to do full-time research at FDDI for 30-90 days; Latin American research doctoral students should be available to do full-time research at FDDI for 90 days;

All FLAUC fellows (including Latin American research professors and doctoral students) are required to publish at least one working paper in academic journals together with Fudan collaborator during the visit;

All FLAUC fellows should make at least one presentation on his/her research topic;

All FLAUC fellows are required to work during office hours at the FDDI office for at least 2 days per week. During this period, FLAUC fellows will meet with scholars, staff or students who have made an appointment with them.

  *All the reports/ articles/ essays that FLAUC fellows submit to FDDI will be selected and recommended to FDDI publishing partners. Please ensure that the reports/articles/essays that you submit or recommend do not cause any copyright conflicts.

6、PRIVILEGES

For professors, FDDI will provide a subsidy package including:

Subsidy for international transportation: ￥10,000.00 RMB

Subsidy for insurance: ￥600.00 RMB

Subsidy for accommodation:￥300.00 RMB /day

Subsidy for living expenses:￥300.00 RMB/day

For doctoral students, FDDI will provide a subsidy package including:

Subsidy for international transportation: ￥5,000.00 RMB

Subsidy for insurance: ￥600.00 RMB

Subsidy for accommodation:￥250.00 RMB /day

Subsidy for living expenses:￥250.00 RMB/day.

FLAUC fellows enjoy full access to libraries and electronic resources at Fudan University;

The FDDI provides each FLAUC fellow with free office space which is accessible from Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 17:00 p.m. (except for University holidays);

FLAUC fellows are welcome to attend lectures and all public scholarly events on the University campus, including those organized by the FDDI;

The FDDI will provide platforms and opportunities for publication in academic journals and the media in China;

FLAUC fellows would have free field trip opportunities arranged by FDDI.
