Abstract
As of now, the main supply route of energy imports for China has its’ starting point in the Persian Gulf, then passes through the Indian Ocean, the Straits of Malacca, and the South China Sea. The hypothesis of my presentation is that while this geopolitical route is jeopardized by territorial disputes and the presence of navies of powers that have territorial or other disputes with China, overland pipelines along the China-Central Asia-West Asia Economic Corridor offer a secure alternative that, while having limited capacity in the present, has the potential of becoming the main energy supply line for China.
