June 24th to July 5th, Unicamp
The São Paulo Advanced School on Technology & Innovation Strategies and Policies for Economic Development will take place at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, from June 24th to July 5th 2024. The School provides an opportunity to learn about and debate recent developments in the economics of technological change and in science, technology and innovation policy studies. It also purports to network participants with leading university faculty and fellow post-doctoral researchers and postgraduate degree candidates from around the world.
The School will address the following topics:
· Economic catching-up and innovation
· Innovation in Global Value Chains
· Universities and regional economic development
· Trade and industrial policy
· Technology Sovereignty
The School comprises numerous seminars, intensive courses, roundtable discussions, and technical visits. These sessions will be led by prominent academics from leading academic institutions and policy practitioners. The São Paulo Advanced School on Technology & Innovation Strategies and Policies for Economic Development will be held back-to-back with the international conference organized by the São Paulo Excellence Chair on Strategy, Research and Innovation Governance on June 20-21, 2024 (https://www.ige.unicamp.br/insyspo/). The School is co-organized by the Institute of Economics (https://www.eco.unicamp.br)*
*As part of the São Paulo Advanced School on Technology & Innovation Strategies and Policies for Economic Development, the Institute of Economics will also host the 5th Unicamp International School on Development Challenges, the IV BRICS Network University International School and the 3rd BRICS Postgraduate Forum.
Eligibility
We welcome applications from post-graduate students (doctoral and advanced masters degree candidates) as well as early career researchers, including post-doctoral researchers. Successful applicants will satisfy the following criteria:
· A strong research background in the economics of technological change, in technology & innovation policy, and/or in development studies;
· A good working knowledge (speaking and writing) of English;
· The availability to attend the entire length (all activities) of the programme.
Fees and grants
There are no fees to participate in the School. In addition, the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) will cover fully the transportation costs and related accommodation and subsistence expenses for all selected participants who are not based in Campinas. Health insurance for non-residents in Brazil will also be covered.
