Yuan Li is currently Acting Professor (W2) and Representative Chair on East Asian Business and Economic Studies at Institute of East Asian Studies and Mercator School of Management at University of Duisburg-Essen. He studied economics and modern Chinese economy in Catholic University of Milan and University of California, San Diego, was Postdoctoral fellow in the University of Duisburg-Essen, and was Assistant Professor in Stockholm School of Economics. His publications appear in leading international journals such as the Economics of Transition, Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Chinese Economics and Business Studies etc. His Ph.D. dissertation was awarded the Best Ph.D. Dissertation by the International Society for New Institutional Economics (ISNIE).
Prof. Li is currently President of the Chinese Economic Association (Europe/UK) and a guest editor for Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies. He is one of the main founders of “The International Forum on the New Silk Road and Sino-European Cooperation” (a forum jointly founded by the China Center for Contemporary World Studies and IN-EAST, University of Duisburg-Essen). He has been an invited expert at the “Chongqing Research Institute of One Belt One Road” at the Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences. His interviews appear on major Chinese and global media, such as The People’s Daily, BBC, The West German Newspaper (WAZ), etc.. He holds the honorable academic title of “Zijin” scholar, awarded by the Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
