DR Igbinoba Emmanuel is a research fellow at the Centre for Chinese Studies, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He obtained his PhD in International Economics from the University of Rome in Italy and his MSc in Economics (International finance) from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China. His current research focuses on China’s economic relations and its impact on the structural transformation of Sub-Saharan Africa in a sector specific context as well as the Belt Road initiative (OBOR). Prior to joining CCS, Emmanuel worked at Kwararafa University Nigeria as a lecturer in the department of Economics and Statistics. His research interests are in International trade and Finance, Development Economics and Chinese Economic Studies.
