Dr. Csaba Barnabas Horvath is an assistant researcher at the Silk Road Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His current work is focused on the Belt and Road Initiative. His methodological approach is geopolitics leaning towards defensive realism. He obtained his PhD at the Corvinus University on Budapest, in his PhD thesis analyzing the multipolar geopolitical balance between China, the US-lead Quadrilateral and Russia. In Hungary, he lectured courses at multiple universities incluing Corcinus University, Eötvös Loránd University and Pázmány Péter Catholic University. He also participated in visiting research fellowships in Malaysia, Australia Singapore and Taipei, and presented papers at the international conferences of the EUSA-AP in Singapore, Macau, Melbourne and Hongkong. Besides the Asia-Pacific, he also published papers on issues related to his home region, Central and Eastern Europe.
