Christopher Foster

Chris Foster is a Presidential Research Fellow at the Global Development Institute (GDI), the University of Manchester, UK where he joined in October 2018. Prior to joined GDI, Chris was a Lecturer in ICT and innovation in the University of Sheffield, UK (2015-2018) and a researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford (2013-2015).
His research focusses on the digitalisation and the implications for the economy. His recent work has focused on digitalisation of firms, and the impact on global production networks. He has also undertaken research examining policy debates linked to the expansion of the digital economy and digital trade. His PhD, in Development and Policy Management is from the University of Manchester, where he examined the shifting concepts of 'innovation' focussing on mobile phone innovations in Kenya.
