概述

复旦大学中华文明国际研究中心(下称中心)每年为国外优秀中青年中国学研究者提供访学机会，推动国内外学术理念和方法的融合。访问学者计划于2012年正式启动，常年接受申请。

中心面向世界的中国研究学者，每年为海外优秀中青年学者提供访问研究机会，并通过学术报告、小型学术工作坊、学术出版等形式，构建访问学者与复旦以及国内学者的全方位、多层次交流体系。一方面为海外中国学学者提供“在地的”研究环境，推动世界中国学研究的整体发展；另一方面立足复旦与国内，通过交流与合作研究，提升中华文明研究的学术辐射力和国际影响力，为中华文明研究的进一步国际化筑造平台。

Overview

The International Center for Studies of Chinese Civilization (ICSCC) at Fudan University is pleased to announce the ICSCC Visiting Scholars Program. Officially established in 2012, the ICSCC is a platform for research in the advancement of new approaches to studies on Chinese civilization and cross-cultural exchange among global academic community. Supported by Fudan’s strength in the humanities, ICSCC strives to create a resident research community to engage in research projects concerning Chinese civilization. Through on-campus lectures, small-scale workshops, and publishing opportunities, ICSCC will constitute a comprehensive and multilevel system of exchange between visiting and local scholars.

ICSCC’s Visiting Scholars Program is for qualified young scholars from outside of China who are at their early or middle stages of academic careers with a proposed focus on Chinese civilization. Successful applicants will receive support to pursue independent research while in residence at Fudan. They are expected to make presentation on individual research topic and lead one workshop in collaboration with Fudan and non-Fudan faculty members and scholars. Projects funded under the program are expected to result in publications in Chinese.

一、申请条件

1、访问学者应来自中国以外的大学和研究机构（不包括港澳台地区），年龄一般在50周岁以下，具备良好学术研究能力。

2、访问学者应具有国外大学的博士学位，并在国外大学和研究机构任职。

3、访问学者应从事与中华文明相关的人文学科研究，优先考虑从事传统中华文明研究学者。

Guidelines for application

Eligibility

1.Applicants must be under 50 years of age.

2.Applicants should have received the doctoral degree and hold a faculty position at a recognized 

university or be a regular member at an established research institution out of China.

3.Applicants should conduct research relevant to Chinese civilization, preferably traditional Chinese civilization.

二、访问研究名额与时间

中心每年招收最多12名海外访问学者，来复旦大学从事驻校研究，按时间分为1个月、3个月和6个月三类。申请者可按照自身情况提出访问时间。中心在批准申请后，根据研究室、住宿等条件统一安排，并与申请者协商决定。

Each year, the ICSCC invites up to 12 visiting scholars from overseas to conduct research at Fudan University for periods of 1, 3, or 6 months.

Applicants can make their visit in accordance with their own circumstances. After the approval of the application, the center shall arrange the arrangements according to the conditions of study and accommodation, and decide in consultation with the applicants.

三、访问研究条件

1、中心将为访问学者提供单次往返国际旅费、访问期间住宿，及适量生活补助。

2、访问学者驻校期间，可使用复旦大学提供的研究室、计算机文印设备和图书资料等。

Budget

1.The center shall provide visiting scholars with one-time round-trip traveling expenses (standard economy-class airline price), as well as standard and reasonable living stipends and accommodations for the duration of the visit.

2. The center shall provide an on-campus research office with computer printing facilities, and access to books and reference materials in Fudan libraries.

四、合作研究

1、访问学者驻校期间，需有一名国内合作学者。如果当地学者来自复旦以外，中心应安排复旦学者在类似的研究领域担任联络员。

2、访问学者驻校期间，应与中心共同组织一次小型学术工作坊（workshop）。除访问学者及合作学者外，工作坊参加人数一般为12名以内，主要由相关研究领域的中外学者组成。参加工作坊的外地（包括国外）学者的旅费、食宿费用由中心承担。中心保留工作坊论文结集出版的权利。

3、访问学者驻校期间，需做至少1次学术报告。学术报告文稿提交研究中心，作为访问期间成果。

Assignments

1.Local liaison.  Visiting scholars should collaborate with a local scholar.  If the local scholar is from outside of Fudan, the Center shall arrange a Fudan scholar in a similar field of study to act as liaison.

2.Workshop.  Visiting scholars should lead one workshop in collaboration with Fudan and non-Fudan faculty members and scholars. The workshop should be no longer than one week’s duration. Besides the organizers, each workshop opens 20 places in maximum for scholars engaged in related field of research. Travel expenses and hotels for workshop participants from outside Shanghai will be covered by ICSCC.  Workshop papers may be selected by ICSCC for translation and publication.

3. Visiting scholars should do at least one academic report. The academic report should be submitted to the research center as a result of the visit.

五、招收程序

招收访问学者遵照以下程序：

1、中心发布信息，接受申请。

2、中心汇总申请材料，由管理委员会进行初选，再分送相关专家作评议报告，必要时可组织专家面试。

3、学术委员会根据申请人情况和评议结果，决定最终人选。

Application Procedures

1.The center issues a call for proposals, and accepts applications. 

2.Then, it gathers application materials and the Executive Board begins preliminary selection, distributing applications to relevant experts for review, requiring interviews when necessary.  

3.Final acceptance decisions are made by the Academic Board based on applicants’ circumstances and review results.

六、申请材料

申请者应向中心提交以下材料：

1、申请封面：申请人的项目名称和完整的联系方式，包括姓名、头衔、联系方式（电子邮件、电话和邮寄地址）;

2、个人简历，包括教育与研究经历、已发表学术成果等；

3、护照扫描件或详细的护照信息;

4、一份访问期间的研究计划（中文不少于3000字，英文不少于5页）；

5、两封由国内外相关领域专家撰写的推荐信。

以上申请材料可使用中文或者英文。

Applications should consist of the following

1. Application cover page: project title and full contact information for applicant, including name, title, contact information (email, telephone, postal mailing address);

2.  Curriculum vitae, including education background and research experience, as well as published academic achievements;

3.  Passport Scan or detailed passport info;

4.  Description of research proposal (minimum 3000 characters if in Chinese, 5 pages, single spaced, if in English);

5.  Two recommendation letters written by experts in relevant fields of study. 

The above application materials may be written in Chinese or English.

七、申请时间和联系方式

复旦大学中华文明国际研究中心访问学者计划自2012年4月启动，常年接受申请。中心每年分春秋两季（截止日期为4月30日与10月31日）汇总申请材料，提交管理委员会和学术委员会评审。评审结果将及时通知申请学者。

Timelines

The ICSCC Visiting Scholars Program is a long term program that runs through the whole academic year. We receive application all year round, and will process the application by April 30 and October 31.Applications should be sent by email to Ms. Chen HUANG, the Program Co-ordinator at ICSCC Fudan.
