Global Young Scholars Conference on

“China and the World:Development · Governance · Security”

May 24-25, 2018 | Fudan University

Fudan Development Institute (FDDI), based at Fudan University, is calling for paper submissions from young scholars – PhD students up to associate professors– throughout FDDI’s international network all over the world. Applicant must be or under 45 years of age. The conference will take place May 24-25, 2018 at Fudan University.

The conference theme “China and the World: Development · Governance · Security” is broadly construed to include quantitative, data-driven studies and qualitative studies from all social science disciplines.

The conference will bring young scholars globally together so they can exchange ideas and share research findings. The conference aims to become a dynamic forum for international and cross-disciplinary participants to build new synergies and develop future collaborative projects.

FDDI will cover the travel cost for the paper presenters and provide up to a four-night stay in a hotel for those from outside of Fudan University. The presenters who are selected for presentation in the conference will be also invited to attend Shanghai Forum 2018 which will be held from May 26 to May 28, 2018 in Shanghai.

If you would like to present a paper at the conference, please send your submission (3,000-5,000 words in English) as well as your CV to Ms. JIANG Huaxia (jianghx@fudan.edu.cn) by March 16, 2018. You will be notified by March 30, 2018 if your paper has been selected for presentation.

The Fudan-UC Center on Contemporary China is the first academic institution to be established by a major Chinese university in cooperation with a leading North American university. It is based in the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS) at the University of California, San Diego. Under the directorship of Professor Richard Madsen, the Center serves to connect all ten campuses of the University of California system with Fudan University in Shanghai. It will bring together leading research scholars from both universities for conferences and lectures, and it will facilitate cooperative research.
