People-Centered City Institute was founded in January 2025, affiliated with Fudan University under the overall guidance of the Publicity Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee.

Integrating academic resources from Fudan University and research strengths across Shanghai and the nation, the Institute is committed to studying, publicizing and implementing the people-centered city vision. It aims to develop a theoretical framework for people-centered cities, explore a distinctive urban development path with Chinese characteristics, and advance urban studies with Chinese features.

The Institute pursues holistic planning and systematic development in theoretical research, practical innovation, discipline building and curriculum design. By upholding goal-oriented and result-oriented principles, it supports Fudan University in playing a leading and exemplary role in serving Shanghai’s efforts to build a people-centered city and advance Chinese-style modernization.
