Center for BRICS Studies



The Centre for BRICS Studies was established in March, 2012. It provides China with strategic consultation on promoting cooperation among BRICS countries in global governance. It is an academic institute devoted to multi-disciplinary researches on the cooperation among BRICS countries on major international issues and BRICS participation in global governance. The Centre for BRICS Studies is the first and the most active and devoted platform in China in promoting BRICS pragmatic cooperations.

• BRICS Universities League(BRICS UL) 

BRICS UL shall act as a platform for bilateral and multilateral exchanges between universities in BRICS countries, as an important mechanism for promoting education cooperation and cultural exchanges between BRICS countries, and also as an international think tank supporting policy research in BRICS countries. From January 2019, Fudan University shall serve as the BRICS UL Secretariat to further promote the work of the BRICS UL. The specific work is undertaken by the Center for BRICS Studies, FDDI.

• BRICS Information Sharing and Exchange Platform

In response to the relevant initiatives of the 2013 BRICS Summit in Durban, the platform aims at boosting the trade and investment ties among BRICS countries with a view of being an international, non-profit and authoritative information portal. The official website is: www.brics-info.org. The platform has become a comprehensive BRICS information dissemination platform approved by the 2015 BRICS Summits in Brazil. Now the website gets as high as 200,000 hits per month. It is currently the largest and also the most authoritative database for researches on BRICS cooperations in China.

• BRICS Summer School

This programme is held from July to August every year since 2014. It gathers both undergraduate and graduate students from BRICS countries for a one-month study in Shanghai. There are two main modules: “Global Governance and Cooperation among BRICS” and “China’s Politics and Diplomacy” delivered by domestic and foreign prestigious scholars in BRICS studies, and also combined with other events in BRICS theme. This programme is the first programme in BRICS education cooperation with the largest substantial progress. It is an outstanding platform for 

youth communications in order to enhance BRICS cooperation though people-to-people exchange.
