Shanghai Key Laboratory of Policy Simulation and Assessment for Ecology and Environment Governance (The Key Laboratory) was established in August 2021.

The three major research directions of the key Laboratory include: firstly, the ‘Implementation’ of major national environmental governance policies and the research on Shanghai's ecological civilization, environmental governance theory and policy innovation. Secondly, Shanghai’s environmental governance performance evaluation and policy decision-making mechanism optimization research. In addition to specific ecological environmental issues-oriented collaborative management and governance policy research.

At the same time, Fudan University has a strong foundation in various academic fields, conducts a series of studies on major issues related to environmental management and environmental economics, environmental policy, Multi-system modeling, ecological environment planning and design, low-carbon development theories and practices, etc. The research provides important theoretical and practical support for the high-quality development and high-level protection of Shanghai and even the Yangtze River Delta.
